Keysight Technologies

Newcastle University invests £407,982.5 in Keysight Technologies[1]. Keysight Technologies has a military goods export license from the UK to Israel[2]. Keysight Technologies is an “electronics manufacturer that works very closely with UAV Tactical Systems Leicester, regularly making multiple deliveries per week to the site”[3]. "UAV Tactical Systems, is majority owned by Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, Elbit Systems, who often market their weapons as “battle-tested” after being used against the Palestinian people. Elbit supply 85% of Israel’s military drone fleet and land-based equipment"[4].

Cadence Design Systems

Newcastle University invests £1,358,155.4 in Cadence Design Systems[5]. Cadence Design Systems have a military goods export license from the UK to Israel[6]. Cadence is officially represented in Israel by CadCam [7][8]. CadCam is an authorised vendor to Israeli weapon manufacturers IAI, Elbit Systems, Rafael, Aeronautics and to the Israeli Ministry of Defense [9]. Cadence’s subsidiary CAE Systems have military contracts with Israel’s largest weapons producer Elbit Systems to provide M-346 training devices for the Israeli Air Force [10]. Cadence’s subsidiary CAE Systems supplies simulations software to the world’s largest weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin [11]. Lockheed Martin uses such software in the process of designing its fighter jets [12]. Cadence exhibits Lockheed Martin’s F-35 jet on its website [13]. Cadence’s subsidiary CAE Systems has been chosen by the Israeli weapon manufacturer Astronautics as its strategic (and preferred) military simulation provider [14]. Cadence’s systems are also deployed for the Israeli company Mellanox Technologies [15]. Mellanox is a collaborator with Israeli weapon manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems [16]. Cadence’s channel partner in Israel is EDAis; an electronics engineering firm serving the Israeli military sector [17]. One of the main clients of Cadence’s partner EDAis is Astronautics, an Israeli weapon manufacturer providing weapon systems to the Israeli Defence Force (IDF)[17][18]. Cadence’s CEO has stated: “there are a lot of brilliant ideas that come from the intelligence units of the Israeli army”[19].

Emerson Electric

Newcastle University invests £590,927.2 in Emerson Electric [20]. Emerson Electric produces the Emerlec EE-30 Naval Gun [21]. Emerson Electric is the manufacturer of the TOW Vehicle M901A1 armoured tank used during the invasion of Iraq [22]. Emerson Electric owns the Israeli company Spectronix Emerson [23]. Spectronix "serves Israeli defense forces, Israel Ministry of Defense, other armies, and other ministries of defense" [24]. Spectronix equips Israel’s Merkava tanks (and other Israeli tanks) with sensors [25]. The Merkava tank is Israel’s main asset for the ground offensive in Gaza [26]. A Forensic Architecture investigation concluded that Hind Rajab was likely killed from an Israeli Merkava tank [27]. Spectronix Emerson’s CEO "served as Captain in a Combat Parachuting unit in the IDF and worked for 8 years in the Prime Minister's office in Israel and abroad" [28].

What we know is more than that, but this is enough to prove that the university has consistently provided false information to the public by claiming: "the university does not invest in companies making armaments"[29]. The university cannot prove that claim, but no matter how long the university insists in misinforming it's stakeholders, the information we provide above proves otherwise.

Careers

Newcastle University funnels its students to work for arms manufacturers. In the midst of the genocide (March 2024), it invited the Israeli weapon manufacturer Rafael to exhibit jobs on campus[30]. Newcastle University's careers services network includes the following weapon manufacturers that are benefiting from the ongoing genocide in Gaza:

Pearson Engineering (Rafael) [31]
BAE Systems [32]
Lockheed Martin [33]
Leonardo S.p.A [34]
